Classic Cream Cheese Cake: A Timeless Dessert

When it comes to desserts, nothing beats the smooth, creamy perfection of a traditional cream cheese cake. With its rich texture and subtle tang, this beloved classic is the ultimate indulgence for any occasion. Whether you’re celebrating a special event or simply craving something sweet, a well-made cream cheese cake is always a crowd-pleaser. The buttery graham cracker crust, paired with the silky, decadent filling, makes this dessert a timeless favorite.

Ingredients

For the Crust:

1 ½ cups graham cracker crumbs

¼ cup granulated sugar

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

For the Filling:

4 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

4 large eggs

½ cup sour cream

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)

Steps

Get the Crust Ready: Start by preheating your oven to 325°F (160°C). In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, and melted butter until evenly combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9-inch springform pan, making sure it’s firmly packed. Bake for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.

Make the Filling: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and sugar together until smooth and fluffy. Add the vanilla extract and mix again. One at a time, beat in the eggs, making sure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.

Add Sour Cream and Flour: Once the eggs are mixed in, gently fold in the sour cream and flour, ensuring the batter stays smooth. For an extra hint of brightness, stir in the optional lemon juice.

Pour and Bake: Pour the cream cheese mixture over the cooled crust, spreading it out evenly. Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until the center is set and the edges are slightly golden. Turn off the oven, crack the door slightly, and allow the cake to cool inside for an hour to prevent cracking.

Chill and Serve: Once the cake has cooled to room temperature, refrigerate it for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) to let the flavors meld and the texture fully set. Slice and serve chilled, optionally garnishing with fresh berries or a drizzle of fruit sauce.

This traditional cream cheese cake is the perfect balance of rich, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Whether served plain or with your favorite toppings, it’s bound to be a hit every time!
